
Lowe's Mobile + AR
In partnering with Lowe's Home Improvement, we helped them shape how they used mobile technology and augmented reality in-stores, at home, on the job site, and inside their headquarters.

We started by redesigned Lowe's iOS and Android shopping app, helping customers find the right product more easily, both in-app and in-store. Then we used the app's platform as a testing ground for mobile innovation across all users, from customers to associates to Pro contractors.

Carts increased by 10% in the first month after launch.

App Store reviews went from 2.5 to 4 stars.

by Lowe's

Teaming up with Apple, we created one of the first augmented reality measuring apps to hit the App Store, which put Lowe's on Fast Company's "The World's Most Innovative Companies 2018" list. To distinguish Lowe's from the rest, we focused it on the fun of measuring and sharing everyday moments.

After the success of Measured, we began to explore ways to add AR into the Lowe's shopping app to help customers visualize furniture in their home, and seamlessly purchase right within the AR experience.

Because there are no AR-prototyping tools yet, I used After Effects to explore ideas and present demos to the client team. In the video above, I looked at ways to turn a user's home into a warehouse by letting them browse several products at once in VR, then narrow them down to the perfect one that would get placed into their space using AR.




To simulate the way humans naturally explore products in stores, we looked at ideas that displayed different product info as you approached and walked around an AR item. Then we prototyped it using Cinema 4D to test and present to Lowe's.

We created an entire mobile ecosystem for Lowe's that spanned Android, Apple TV and iOS, utilized multiple different devices and wearables, and carried out Lowe's mantra of Never Stop Improving by helping their employees work more efficiently, and getting customers to the right products and information more quickly.
